How can Douglas County Libraries afford to build a library in these tough economic times?
Despite two failed Douglas County Libraries elections, the precincts in Castle Pines always voted overwhelmingly for Douglas County Libraries in the elections. Citizens and businesses in the Castle Pines area have raised money and awareness about the importance of having a library in their community. Through an agreement with the property owner, an inexpensive three year lease has been negotiated. This full-time library will be less expensive to operate, than our part-time bookmobile.
Library Size: 2,300 square feet
Grand Opening: September 19, 2009
Library Features: Friendly staff, express computers, wireless Internet, informal reading areas, self check-out, children's area, and outdoor book drop.
Fundraising: The goal to raise $50,000 by December 2009 has been met. All future donations are tax-deductible and will be used for the materials, equipment, and furniture for the Castle Pines Library.
