‘Tis the Season of Giving at Douglas County Libraries

Douglas County Libraries is uniting with Coats for Colorado and the Task Force of Douglas County to provide food and warmth for families this winter.

Throughout the month of November, Douglas County Libraries will gather gently used and new coats for those who need them this winter as part of the Coats for Colorado program. In addition, all library fines collected Nov. 15 - 28 will be donated to the Douglas County Task Force to stock their food bank and feed local families. Those without fines wishing to make a donation may do so during the same time. Checks can be made out to the Task Force of Douglas County. Please bring your used coats or pay your fines at any of our library branches:

CSI Science for Kids

Show, Don't Tell: Teen Writing Workshops with Author Denise Vega

Sharpen your pencils! A writing class for teens is coming to Douglas County Libraries in October.

Local author, Denise Vega, will show teens how to engage their readers using action, dialogue, and good description.

Vega has written several bestselling books for young adults including Facts of Life #31, Access Denied (And Other 8th Grade Error Messages), and Click Here: To Find Out How I Survived 7th Grade.

This program is recommended for teens 13-18 years old – space is limited, so register now!

You’ll learn how to make your home more energy-efficient on a budget, and how to shop and make healthy choices for you and your family without breaking the bank.

Improves literacy in a unique and fun environment
School-age children sign up to read aloud in Dog/Person teams
Dog/Person teams are registered and certified through Intermountain Therapy Animals
