Teen Advisory Groups
If you're looking to shape teen services at Douglas County Libraries, then join up! If you have ideas, or would like to join, ask at your local branch or email us.
Highlands Ranch
You, as a teen, help plan events, recommend materials, help maintain the teen area of the library, and participate in community events. TAB members represent the teen community as advocates for teen issues and concerns. As a TAB member, you can earn service hours, awards, and recommendations for jobs or college applications. We will provide snacks! The library is currently accepting applications for members. We meet the 4th Monday of each month at 6:30pm. Parker
TAB members help plan events, recommend materials maintain the teen area of the library, and participate in community service projects. As a member, you can earn service hours, awards, and recommendations for jobs or college applications. We welcome middle school and high school students ages 13 and older. We meet the last Tuesday of each month from 6:30 p.m. To 8 p.m. We plan, share food, and meet new friends. Ask for a TAB application at the Youth Services desk or email Dawn and Andrea at TAB@dclibraries.org for more information.
Neighborhood Library at Lone Tree
Teen Advisory Board meets every 2nd and 4th Thursday at 7pm. New members will be accepted in the fall. Teens are encourage to submit any programming ideas to the Board for review. Contact Kate kprestwood@dclibraries.org.
Castle Rock Branch
The Philip S. Miller Library is accepting applications for Teen Interests Committee members. We meet the third Thursday evening of each month from 4-6 PM.
Objective: To involve Castle Rock teens in the library and the community by including them in the planing of teen programs and the selection of young adult library materials.
Qualifications: Teens 12-18. Teen Interests Committee members will commit to serve at least one year as teen advisors, to attend monthly meetings, to participate in scheduled programs, and to share his or her ideas with other members of the group.
DUTIES:
- Plan, publicize and participate in fun activities.
- Recommend books & materials that you & your friends would like.
- Review & discuss books, Cds and movies.
- Share ideas about how to make the library inviting to teens.
- Assist with library programs as needed.
- Help define the goals and purpose of the Teen Interests Committee.
